After being informed on a local forum about “dozens” of anti-BNP stickers being placed on lampposts in the Kingsway West area of York, one of our supporters decided to investigate.
Following a brief scout around the area, it became clear that there wasn’t this number of stickers in the area. (We’re presuming that some supportive local residents had already removed some, or tried to, as can be seen from the second photo.) As suspected, the stickers were from “ANTIFA” and “Fashwatch.” – Stickers from these organisations have been spotted by other members and supporters on separate occasions.
Rather than trying to remove all the stickers which had been discovered in a number of locations in different parts of the city on their travels, our supporter decided to report ANTIFA to the council’s “York Pride Action Line” because as explained below (using an extract from the Council’s website,) ANTIFA are committing a “flyposting” offence.
“Fly posting is the unauthorised display of an advertisement. It can be unsightly and lead to other forms of anti-social behaviour.”
Unfortunately for ANTIFA, fly posting is a punishable offence and the financial penelties can be severe.
“Your street environment officer can serve notice on those displaying or causing a flyposter to be displayed to remove it within 48 hours. Failure to remove a flyposter can result in formal enforcement action resulting in a fine of up to £2,500. Fixed penalties of £75 can also be used on those committing the offence of displaying the advertisement.”
We would like to thank the supporter for the trouble they took to report ANTIFA’s offence to the council and suggest that all other members and supporters should do the same if they come across similar illegal anti-BNP propaganda.
- The fact of the matter is that if the BNP were committing the same offence, the council would be down on us like a ton of bricks. Why should the far left / “anti-fascists” be allowed to get away with it?
To report incidents of fly posting, contact the York Pride Action Line at ypal@york.gov.uk.
Watch this space for further reports on our complaint against ANTIFA. However it’s now up to the council to take action, so it may be some time before we find out what they've done.
Feel free to contact us at the addresses given in the top right hand corner of the page if you have any more information about separate incidents of anti-BNP organisations committing similar offences.

Do you really think Antifa give a flying fuck about any council threatening prosecution? Get a grip you mugs.
York congratulations on setting up a great site. I have taken the liberty of linking you and this particular story.
Fly posting is an unsocial disease that should be stamped out.
Hi "Anon" of 10/01/09 02:13
I don't give a "membership of the mile high club" (to couch your own term in less abusive language) what antifa THINK about the council and their powers.
I imagine their figurehead in charge (can an anarchist organisation HAVE someone in charge, I wonder ?) will be even now writing the speech to deliver to their next rabble-gathering laughing it off.
But I hear that measures are being brought in to televise courts and court proceedings .....
I look forward to the youtube video of said antifa member being dragged into the dock and being sent down,
Because the problem with refusing to recognise the power of the court is that THEY don't recognise the validity of your refusal.
As some blokes called Ceaucescau, Hussein, Mladich and a few others too have found out the hard way.
At least we are not RED FASCIST mugs!!!!

Yes a really constructive post.
That's another boost to the BNP thanks very much, regardless of your silly rant, the law is the law and thats why the BNP will prevail.
Congratulations on the set up York.
ANTIFA only like it when its 5-1 in their favour, seen them in action.
We here in thurrock had similar stuff, it wasn't anti bnp but the local labour called thurrock one of the most neglected places even though labour have represented it for most of the last 50 years, their atavists were putting up labour stickers making the place look even more run down.
